- the rising stars Verwood Community Tennis Club is pleased to provide something for
all ages. Involving younger memebers of the community in tennis..The
following are a range of activities availiable through the clubPlease
note that all ages are only approximate, and each child will be guided
by the coach to which group they will be in and when they will be
promoted upwards. Our Juniors are encouraged to start at a young age, so we run a
special session called ‘First Fun’ for 4 year olds onwards,
the session is based on ball skills and movement all vital to progress
to becoming a Mini Hitter. Verwood Community Tennis Club runs the
LTA – ‘Mini Tennis Awards’ Scheme. This scheme
had been specially developed by the Lawn Tennis Association for juniors
aged 4 -10 years of age, and of any standard. Whether a complete
beginner or a county player. These stars of tomorrow are known as
Mini Hitters. What is ‘Mini Tennis Awards’ all
about?
Coaches inspiring children with a professional, structured curriculum and innovative
lesson plans that both the coach and the kids enjoy! Children having lots of
fun, learning new skills, making friends and maximising their potential on
the court. Regular incentives and rewards, including personal sticker books
for kids to record their achievements. Gives them something to aim for. Provides
regular feedback to the parents. Raising standards of play and ensuring a consistent approach to
Mini Tennis nationwide. Using a scheme that is recognised nationwide.Cool
colours and exciting ideas that attract children to clubs and keep
them coming back for more! There are three sections to this scheme Red, Orange, and Green in
each section there are three levels, starting at level 3 up to
level 1. Children’s passports are available through the coaches and
cost £3.00 each, each passport contains 15 Splats (targets),
each child completes these in their own time and at their pace.
